Dremio Appoints Billy Bosworth to Board of Directors
Santa Clara, Calif., – August 13, 2019 - Dremio, the data lake engine company, announced today that Billy Bosworth, CEO of DataStax, has joined the company’s Board of Directors.
Billy served as a member of the board of directors of Tableau for the last four years, leading up to that company’s $15.7B acquisition by Salesforce. He is currently the CEO of DataStax, a privately held data management company based on open-source Apache CassandraTM, a position he has held since May of 2011. Under his leadership, DataStax has grown from a Silicon Valley startup to over $100M in annual revenue.
“Billy has decades of proven success guiding and growing category-defining data infrastructure and analytics companies,” said Tomer Shiran, co-founder and CEO, Dremio. “His leadership and experience will be invaluable to Dremio as we continue our rapid growth and expansion.”
Prior to his role at DataStax, Billy was GM of Quest Software’s Database Division, a leader in database management software. Under his leadership the Quest database business grew from supporting traditional relational databases to a portfolio that included tools for cloud, NoSQL, columnar, and Hadoop databases, as well as business intelligence offerings.
“Companies in all industries are interested in creating cloud data lakes, and Dremio’s Data Lake Engine makes analytics on data lake storage dramatically faster and easier,” said Bosworth. “Dremio is capitalizing on a big opportunity and I look forward to working with Tomer and his team in support of its mission.”
Dremio’s Data Lake Engine delivers fast query speed and a self-service semantic layer operating directly against data lake storage. Dremio eliminates the need to move data to proprietary data warehouses or create cubes, aggregation tables and BI extracts, providing flexibility and control for Data Architects, and self-service for Data Consumers.
